Waterloo Region’s residential construction market is expected to remain stable over the coming months.
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation is out with its Spring Housing Market Outlook report.
It forecasts housing starts in the region will increase to 2,300 units this year and 2,625 units in 2015.
CMHC Market Analyst Anthony Passarelli says the increase is “primarily due to an increase in apartment starts. A large number of those apartment starts will be intended for the rental market.”
The agency also forecasts housing starts in Guelph will decrease to 700 units this year, but increase next year to 825 units.
