Kitchener’s Tuesday Night Express Permits program returns

The warmer weather may have you thinking of tackling a home renovation project and the City of Kitchener wants to make it easier for you.
Tuesday Night Express Permits returns tonight for its tenth year. Mike Seiling with the City of Kitchener tells 570 News what you need to get your project approved in one night.
“If they have their construction drawings, a survey plan and they bring cash or a debit card, we do the plan review right on the spot. We check for building code requirements, zoning requirements and if everything conforms we actually issue the permit right on the spot.”
The program runs every Tuesday night from 4-6:30 at Kitchener’s City Hall until August 26th.
Seiling goes on to say that May is building safety month. In light of this, the building division will have a tent set up on the ground floor of City Hall from May 12th-16th from noon-2 p.m. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions about building projects or safety that you may have.
