Hundreds of Home Hardware dealer-owners and employees are in St Jacobs for the Spring Market celebrating 50 years, which wraps up today.
And they were treated to a special keynote speaker this morning.
A sea of red listened in as Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield regaled the crowd with tales of flying into space, and the power of having goals and dreams.
He tells the crowd they provide goals for consumers, with their expertise and examples, and it’s important that the customer has something to work towards.
“Give people the constant ability to become educated, to improve their own capabilities. That combination ends up paying off both short term and long term.”
Hadfield also told the crowd of red shirts and their families that to lead people, you need confidence, competence, and communication.
And he also touched on social media – saying major corporations need to connect with human experiences, not just using it as an advertising service.
Home Hardware CEO Paul Straus says they lucked out to have Hadfield there, securing his commitment before he left NASA.
570’s Kathlene Campbell-Conlon spoke with Straus about the success of the Spring Market.
