10:00am- Karen Scian, Ward 2 Councillor with the City of Waterloo, Re: A proposed Costco and gas bar in Waterloo’s west end will be before council tonight. The proposed site, at 924 and 930 Erb Street West, would include approximately 6,000 square metres of commercial retail space as well as a 13,750 square metre Costco store. However, many in the community have cited concerns over how quickly things are progressing. Scian, the Ward councillor, says she’s heard about residents concerns with the proposal. The proposed location of the site along Erb will cause a traffic nightmare for some time.
10:30am- Jeremy Diamond, Campaign Director of The Vimy Foundation, Re: 2 days ahead of the anniversary, a new poll from the Vimy Foundation reveals that many Canadians were unaware of Vimy Ridge, one of Canada’s most important battles in the First World War. Are we leaving our history behind? Why is remembering this battle important?
