Just over a week ago, it looked like the Waterloo Siskins were down and out.
But, they came back, down 3-1, to beat the Elmira Sugar Kings in Game 7 of the semi-finals on Sunday night.
It means they’ll open the Cherrey Cup final at home to Stratford tonight. Game 1 is set for 7pm at the Waterloo Rec. Complex.
Siskins Captain, Christian Mroczkowski tells 570 News the motivation they used for that series came from their coach who focused on some playoff stats from the NHL, the stat being that just over nine per cent of NHL teams have come back to win a series when trailing 3-1.
“So we kind of went with the idea that the other 90.6 per cent quit…We wanted to be the group that didn’t give up and fought back.”
