A reported bid by Chinese computer giant Lenovo to buy Blackberry last year has been derailed by the federal government.
Tech analyst Carmi Levy was a guest on 570’s Gary Doyle Show and says the feds threw the company a lifeline in the form of a early income tax return to the tune of $767 million to avoid the sale to Chinese or Russian investors.
Levy adds both the federal and provincial government pushed up the time line for Blackberry to receive a portion of their income tax to help the company because they believe the sale would not be in the best interest of the country.
