Sawyer, Author, Re: On March 12th, 1989, Sir Tim Berners-Lee put forth a proposal to make information sharing possible over computers, using nodes and links to create a “web” that would eventually stretch worldwide and become the modern internet. Sawyer, the popular science fiction author, joins Gary for a chat about the world wide web and how it’s changed everyone and everything.
11:30am- Steven Globerman, Senior Fellow at the Fraser Institute and Kaiser Professor of International Business at Western Washington University, Re: While the CRTC targets a trio of X-rated cable channels for failing to supply sufficient levels of Canadian content, the Fraser Institute will release a new study Wednesday, March 12, examining government support and regulation of Canada’s entertainment industry. The study, “The Entertainment Industries, Government Policies and Canada’s National Identity”, focuses on the production and distribution of Canadian film, television, music and literature, and the costs to Canadian taxpayers.
