Just three games left to go for the Rangers

The Kitchener Rangers will finish the season playing three games in three days later this week.

On Wednesday the team skates against the Storm at the Sleeman Centre in Guelph. The Storm are 7-0 versus the Rangers this season and have outscored the East Avenue Blue 39-11. On Thursday the team travels to Sarnia for the fourth and final meeting of the season against the Sting. With only 16 wins and 39 points on the season Sarnia has locked up the first overall draft. Kitchener is 2-1 against the Sting. On Friday the Rangers will finish the season home to the Spitfires. Windsor leads the season series 2-1.

Based on the games remaining on the schedule, it’s likely the Rangers will emerge with the second or third overall draft pick.

Friday night will be special for Rangers captain Ben Fanelli who will play his last game in the OHL. Fanelli was named captain of the Rangers on September 13, 2013 after breakout year in 2012-13. He shared Most Valuable Player honours last season after leading all rearguards with a +23 rating and recording a career-best 23 points.

Fanelli succeeded Ryan Murphy as captain.
