A local woman wants to get more girls going to prom, and she wants them to feel like a princess when they go. Kelly Steiss is the project coordinator with the Kitchener-Waterloo Princess Project.
Steiss’s group collects new and gently used dresses, shoes and accessories. She makes them available to young women to our region, who might not be able to afford such a purchase for their graduation or prom.
“It’s not about just giving them a dress to prom, it’s about making them feel special.”
The princess project will be holding it’s “project prom” at St. George Banquet Hall in Waterloo this afternoon from 1:00-5:00 pm. Steiss says they expect to outfit over 125 young women this spring.
