10:00am-Gareth Neilson, Director of Communications for Fair Pensions For All, Re: Responses to the 2014 Federal budget have been similar: It was a plain, bare bones budget. It wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t even great, it just was. But not Ontario’s Finance Minister Charles Sousa, his response was simple: Ontario is getting “ripped off”. Many Ontarians think the provincial government should be following the lead of the federal government.
10:15am- Gary Goodyear, MP for Cambridge- North Dumfries and Minister of State for Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, Re: Finance Minister Jim Flaherty released the Conservative governments 10th budget yesterday, projecting a $2.9-billion-dollar deficit in 2014-15. Critics say the austerity budget does nothing to tackle Canada’s many economic challenges.
10:30am- John Wright, Senior Vice President at Ipsos, Re: According to a new mystery shop study of 190 Ontario convenience stores conducted by Ipsos Reid on behalf of Canada’s National Brewers, one in five (21%) stores did not ask for valid identification of underage patrons. Major chains and independent stores were equally found to sell tobacco products to patrons under the provincially-defined legal age of 19 years old.
