12:00pm- Chris Alexander, Citizenship and Immigration Minister, Re: The Conservative government has proposed sweeping changes to the Citizenship Act that include beefing up eligibility requirements for immigrants who want to become Canadians and stripping citizenship from terrorists and those who take up arms against Canada. The changes are aimed at strengthening the value of Canadian citizenship and improving the efficiency of the process required to attain it.
12:30pm- Peter McCaffrey, Policy Analyst, LGPI Coordinator with the Frontier Centre for Public Policy, Re: The Frontier Centre for Public Policy has released the 7th annual edition of its influential Local Government Performance Index. The Index ranks the top 100 Canadian cities on their financial transparency and performance over the 2012 financial year., Kitchener was the most improved city jumping from 17 points and 95th position last year to 28 points and 22nd position this year.
