10:00am- Carl Zehr, Mayor of the City of Kitchener, Re: A busy budget day for Kitchener City Council yesterday. After nearly 11 hours of deliberation and a vote of 10-1, Council approved a city tax rate increase of 0.99%. Council had to consider two contrasting themes – keeping the tax rate increase affordable for property owners and ensuring adequate levels of funding to sustain operations – Mayor Zehr explains how he thinks the city achieved their goals.
10:30am- Bill Wymenga, Ontario Pork Board Member, Re: The highly contagious Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus continued to spread in Ontario. Officials have confirmed a fourth case in the province. Officials stress that there is no risk to human health or food safety.
