10:00am- Terry Pedwell, Reporter-Editor at The Canadian Press, Re: Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau calls it a key move to reform the embattled Senate, however some MP’s are dismissing it as a political stunt. Trudeau has booted all 32 Liberal senators out of his national caucus with the aim of restoring the Senate’s intended role as an independent chamber. He called on Prime Minister Harper to follow suit and cut loose the 57 Tory senators. But the new independent senators immediately reconstituted themselves as the Senate Liberal caucus, and the Tories called the entire action a gimmick.
10:30am- Sarah Boesveld, Reporter for the National Post, Re: Study after study on parenthood and happiness finds people with children are no happier than those without. And two new studies have further complicated the debate. A British study of more than 5,000 people found child-free couples were more satisfied with their relationships than parents were. The other study, of 1.8 million Americans by Princeton and Stony Brook universities, included parents aged 34-46 followed from 2008 to 2012. It found “little difference” in happiness levels, but with one significant distinction, parents tend to experience more highs and lows than people without children.
