When to Vote
Election Day is Monday, October 27, 2014 from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m.
Helpful Tips
The peak voting times are when the voting places first open in the morning and after 5 p.m. If you vote at a school, class dismissal time can also be busy. Anyone may vote at an advance vote. Although the voting ends at 8 p.m. on October 27, if you are in the voting place at that time and have not yet voted, you will be allowed to cast your vote.
If your name is not on the voter’s list, make the application to have it added prior to voting day. This will assist in quick voting times for you and others.
Voter Notification
In October 2014 every voter listed on the voter’s list will receive by mail a voter notification, which you must take when you go to your voting place. At the polling station you will be required to show personal identification, along with your VNL to the DRO Ballot Clerk, and they will provide you with the proper ballot and secrecy folder. Take the ballot to an available voting booth to cast your vote. To vote you simply place an ‘x’ in the blank square to the right of the candidate(s) of your choice. You must use the special pen provided in the voting booth.
If you make an error on your ballot, go to the DRO Manager with the spoiled ballot and request a new one.
After voting, insert the ballot into the secrecy folder with the DRO ballot clerk’s initials exposed. Take the ballot in the secrecy folder to the DRO Manager who will then insert the ballot into the tabulator. The tabulator will read the ballot and then drop it into the ballot box.
Voters’ List
After September 2, 2014, you can check to see if your name is on the voters’ list by visiting the Office of the City Clerk, 2nd Floor City Hall – 200 King St W or the Welcome Centre, ground floor, City Hall – 200 King St W, any branch of the Kitchener Public Library, or at any one of the community resource centres listed. If your name is not on the voters’ list, or the information is incorrect, you can fill out an application to amend the voter’s list, available at the locations listed below.
You can also complete an application at the voting place where you are to go and vote. If you are a qualified elector you will be required to complete the application and provide at least one piece of personal identification showing your name and qualifying address in the City of Kitchener.

Advance Voting
All eligible electors may vote at an Advance Vote at any one of the following Community Centres, on the dates and at the times specified below:
Tentative Dates and Times:
Wednesday, October 15 – 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Thursday, October 16 – 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday, October 17 – 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, October 18 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Final dates and times for advance voting will be posted in the spring of 2014.

Special Needs
All voting places are accessible. A friend can assist a voter who is a person with a disability; inquire with the DRO ballot clerk at the voting place. Accessible vote tabulators will be available at five community centre locations during the advance vote.
