New Hamburg fire now considered arson

Regional Police are now suspecting arson as the cause of a fire in New Hamburg on Waterloo Street Saturday morning.
Police Spokesperson Olaf Heinzel tells 570News the change happened after a search this week at the residence, along with examining evidence from detectives and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office.
“Because it is an active invesigation, it is now considered a criminal act. Our detectives are looking at all of the information that has been gathered.”
He adds no one was hurt in the $400, 000 blaze.
Anyone with information is asked to speak with police.
