Ice storm clean up continues in Cambridge

The forestry department with the City of Cambridge is still working through a backlog of calls for service from December’s ice storm.

That department received 800 calls and city spokesperson Linda Fegan says they are prioritizing these calls by safety and security and continue to do so.  She says general debris cleanup has not taken place at this point.

Fegan says meanwhile, the city is working on improving road conditions.  There were reports of road salt shortages throughout the region but she says the city is well stocked.

The city also wants residents to keep catch basins free from debris in case of a rapid melting of snow this weekend as warmer temperatures are expected.

She says hydrants also need to be kept clear of snow in case of an emergency.
