An elderly Cambridge man is dead following a crash on Highway 85 near St. Jacobs last night.
Police say 79 year old Jose Brasil was hit by a vehicle just before 6:30pm, half a kilometre past the King Street North exit. It was after getting his vehicle stuck in a ditch, while attempting a U-turn.
Investigators tell us a good samaritan stopped to help Brasil move his car, but for some reason Brasil wandered into a live lane of traffic and that’s when he was hit.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the victim suffered minor injuries.
Police say alcohol was not a factor.
