PM statue project has support of Planning Committee

A series of bronzed statues of Canada’s prime ministers is another step closer to calling Kitchener’s Victoria Park home.
The city’s Planning Committee voted unanimously to bring the idea up for public consultation with the results to be brought back to council for consideration in March.
Two local residents requested support for The Statue Project: A celebration of Leadership. It would see life size bronze statues of all the prime ministers in the park in time for the country’s 150th anniversary in 2017.
The project already has a commitment in pledges for $1 million and the backing of Gov. General David Johnston.
The group is looking for $300,000 over three years from the city.
