Golf Canada has announced the athletes who will represent Team Canada in 2014
and two players on the men’s side are from Waterloo Region.
Returning to the men’s squad is veteran member Garrett Rank of Elmira. The other local player is Kitchener’s Chris Hemmerich. Corey Conners of Listowel is also back on the team.
16 year old Brooke Henderson was one of five players named to the women’s squad. She played at July’s Manulife Financial LPGA Classic in Waterloo.
“We are very excited about the group of young men and women selected as members of Team Canada for 2014,” said Jeff Thompson, Golf Canada’s Chief Sport Officer. “It is our mandate to invest in competitive excellence within the sport. Selecting players for this program is always a difficult task as the quality of players in Canada is improving each year. Having said this, we have no doubt that the athletes selected will represent Canada to the best of their abilities and we look forward to assisting them in achieving their goals.”
