Kitchener now accepting proposals for The Boathouse

The City of Kitchener will start accepting proposals for the now vacant Boathouse in Victoria Park.
Based on the high level of interest from potential operators, council will be implementing a two stage proposal.
Stage one of the proposals begin October 15th and require a description of the proposed used and operation, a statement of qualifications which demonstrates the capacity of the operator in restaurant and bar services and music promotions, and have the financial capabilities of the operation.
Of those who submit a proposal, three to five will be selected to move on to stage two, which requires a more detailed business plan, financial proposal as well as proposed conceptual designed and renovation plan for the facility.
Shortlisted candidates will be notified by Oct. 21 and stage two proposals are due Nov. 15.
Staff expects to bring a recommendation for the successful proponent to the Dec. 2, 2013 council meeting with the hopes to have the boathouse up and running by next summer.
