River Road extension up for public discussion tonight

Tonight, Waterloo Regional Council will invite the public to a presentation and question and answer period for the proposed River Road extension in Kitchener.

The project could cost $72 million dollars.

The report presented to council today during the planning and works committee meeting, says the cost would include construction and a highway 8 interchange to a bridge over Schneider Creek, utility relocation and property acquisition.

The proposed extension will also take into the account the protection of the Jefferson salamander.

The meeting will be held at the public consultation centre at Conestoga Place on Manitou Drive in Kitchener and will begin with a drop in at 4:30 p.m. with the presentation beginning at 7 o’clock.
