Deadly F3 tornado hit Goderich two years ago

Today marks the 2nd anniversary of the deadly F3 tornado that hit Goderich.

The F-3 tornado packed winds of up to 300 km/hour and Environment Canada’s rating made it the most powerful storm to strike Ontario since 1996.

One man was killed and 37 others suffered various injuries as the storm caused widespread devastation, ripping off roofs, demolishing homes and destroying cars.

Todd Letts with the Huron Chamber of Commerce tells 570’s Gary Doyle Show over $13 million in building permits have been approved for this year.

He says 90 per cent of the businesses that were damaged have rebuilt and over 150 trees were planted in the courthouse square.

Letts says Goderich has transformed back into one of Canada’s prettiest towns.
