Well-known journalist Peter Worthington, the founding editor of the Toronto Sun, has died. He was 86.
The Toronto Sun reported Worthington died Sunday night at Toronto General Hospital, where he had been admitted with a staph infection.
Worthington had a long career, which started in the Canadian Navy, which he enlisted in when he was just 17.
Sun columnist Joe Warmington said Worthington should be remembered for more than just his journalism career.
“He really is one of the giants, not only in journalism, but really in Canadian history as well,” Warmington said.
Worthington is survived by his wife, Yvonne Crittenden, and children Casey Worthington, Guy Crittenden, Danielle Crittenden, and six grandchildren.
