Regional Council has voted 11-1 in favour of the name Ion for the yet to be built light rapid transit system.

The Record reports the only dissenting voice was Cambridge Councillor, Claudette Millar who said Ion did not reflect the wishes of the public.

Regional Chair, Ken Seiling along with Cambridge Mayor, Doug Craig and North Dumfries Mayor, Rob Deuttschmann abstained, citing conflicts of interest.
