It’s another big launch day for BlackBerry — with the Q10 hitting store shelves in Canada.
The company rolled out the Q10 in the GTA with an early supply also making their way to select stores in Waterloo Region.
Local residents can purchase the QWERTY BlackBerry 10 device at Best Buy in Kitchener, Bell on Victoria Street in Kitchener, Future Shop in Waterloo, Wireless Wave in Fairview Park Mall, Future Shop in Cambridge, Rogers in Conestoga Mall and Wireless Wave in Conestoga Mall in Waterloo.
More locations will be carrying the device in the region over the next few days, the device will also be available across the rest of the country in the coming days.
Managing Director for Canada, Andrew McLeod, tells 570 News they are anticipating success with the Q-10, as it features a physical keyboard and will run on the BB-10.1 operating system.
McLeod says, “We’ll be launching the Skype application on 10.1. We also have this really cool new feature called ‘instant action’ that lets you take advantage of the keyboard and create little shortcuts.”
He says by typing a couple of letters, different applications like e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter will immediately pop up.
McLeod says reviews of the Q10 have been very positive, noting when it launched in the UK last week — it sold out.
McLeod says the Canadian market has always been a strong supporter of BlackBerry — but they also anticipate many loyal users who have been waiting for the physical QWERTY keyboard to make the switch.
He says this won’t be it for the BB10 line-up.
“We’ve got our big global conference coming up in Orlando . . . the week after next,” McLeod says.
“I would say stay tuned because we’ll have some more announcements coming out then.”
