Jacob Hespeler SS open after sewage issue

Things are back to normal at Jacob Hespeler Secondary School in Cambridge.

The school was closed Wednesday morning, and students were evacuated around 11 a.m. after a suspicious odour was discovered.

Assistant Superintendent for the Waterloo Region District School Board, Jim Barrie says the investigation found a “sewage related issue” that board members and maintenance staff worked to resolve.

He said no one was hurt in the evacuation and everything went smoothly.

The students were sent to Heritage Baptist College on Holiday Inn Drive, and the school will be open as usual Thursday.
