4:34-  Brendan Wylie-Toal, Co-Chair of the Food System Roundtable, RE: Regional Council voted unanimously to adopt the Waterloo Regional Food Charter during a Council’s Community Services Committee on April 9th. It was pitched to Council by the Waterloo Region Food System Roundtable. The group will now take the document to area municipal Councils, businesses, organizations, and individuals to seek broad endorsement of the Charter. They will present the Charter to the public at tonight’s “Taste of Woolwich” event in Breslau. It takes place tonight at the Breslau Mennonite Church at 226 Woolwich Street South from 5-8pm.

 

4:42- Sid Ryan, President of the Ontario Federation of Labour, Re: In February, the Ontario Federation of Labour launched an unprecedented, province-wide community consultation on the next provincial budget. The People’s Budget campaign visited nine communities, including right here in Kitchener, inviting Ontarians to share their ideas for a new approach to addressing our economic, social, and fiscal challenges. The campaign received feedback from more than 135 citizens and groups.  This input serves as the basis for the recommendations contained in the People’s Budget.
