Customers still without power in Waterloo

Waterloo North Hydro crews continue to make progress in restoring power to customers.

As of 6:30 p.m. Friday, the majority of the City of Waterloo customers have power restored or should be restored by 9 p.m. tonight.

Eight hundred customers in the Hickory Hill area are still in the dark, as well as customers in the Southern Elmira area, Northern Woolwich Township, and Northern Wellesley.

Waterloo North Hydro says customers are still experiencing outages due to the downed Hydro One feed which is expected to be restored in two to three hours.

Downed trees and power lines are making restoration difficult.

They say it will take much longer to deal with all of the localized areas within their service boundaries and crews may have to work through the night to restore power to many of the individual services.

Waterloo North Hydro asks everyone to keep back from all downed power lines and to treat all downed lines as live.

The number to call if you see downed trees in power lines is 519-886-5090.
