OPP to launch distracted driving campaign

Provincial police will be conducting a campaign targeting distracted drivers next week.

Police say it’s aimed at reducing collisions and keeping roads safe.

O-P-P say recent statistics show that drivers who text are 23 times more likely to crash their vehicle, and drivers who talk on their phone are four to five times more likely to be involved in a collision.

The fine for driving while using a hand-held communication or entertainment device is 155 dollars.
