A gala fundraiser is taking place at the Walper Hotel in downtown Kitchener today.
It’s to raise money for Dream for Uganda, a two-week cross-culture opportunity for 8 African students to come visit Waterloo Region and other locations in Southern Ontario.
The event has been co-created by reporter Valerie Hill of the Waterloo Region Record and they need to raise $25,000 to get the 8 students and two teachers here.
The event will have live and silent auctions, light buffet, cash bar, African crafts market and live entertainment from musician D Eve Archer.
The fundraiser runs from 5-9pm and tickets, which are still available, are $20.
