BlackBerry’s 4th quarter results

BlackBerry is reporting 4th quarter revenue of $2.7 billion, down 36% from
the same quarter of fiscal 2012.

Its profit was $98 million US or 19 cents per share.

Financial analysts had expected the Waterloo-based company to report a loss for the quarter.

Almost one million of the new Z10 phones were shipped out. In total, BlackBerry shipped approximately six million BlackBerry smartphones and approximately 370,000 BlackBerry tablets.

Meantime, BlackBerry co-founder Mike Lazaridis will retire as vice-chairman and director on May 1st.

BlackBerry shares are up 9% in pre-market trading.
