The Nith River has reached its peak on Wednesday but The Village of Ayr remains under a flood warning.
A level 1 flood warning remains in effect for the Village of Ayr and throughout the watershed Wednesday as warming temperatures and large amounts of rain fall have caused rivers and streams to swell.
The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) Manager of Communications Dave Schultz tells 570 News people should continue to stay clear of rivers and streams.
“Kids are still off of school and the water levels will remain high for the remainder of the week so we want people to still be cautious around rivers and streams”.
Schultz adds that the GRCA is working to prepare for the next melt by ‘releasing a little bit of water from our reservoir to get them (rivers) back down to handle the next melt.’
Water levels in the Grand, Nith, Conestogo and Speed rivers are expected to remain high over the next few days.
