Today is International Women’s Day.
The movement started, unofficially, March 8th, 1908. 15,000 women marched through the streets of New York City demanding fairer hours, better pay and voting rights.
This year’s theme is “A promise is a promise: time for action to end violence against women”
Locally, events include one called “Celebrate and Connect Women in Technology” at the St. George Banquet Hall and Conference Centre in Waterloo.
