2:30- Hockey parents have gone off the deep end. A judge has sentenced a hockey coach to 15 days at a provincial corrections centre for hurting a child because he acted out in a post-game fit of anger. Tremblay stuck out his foot, sending 2 opposition players tumbling to the ice during the traditional post-game handshake. Meanwhile Durham Regional Police arrested and charged a 29 year old with assault and uttering threats against the referee after a novice AE game involving 7 and 8 year olds. Police said several parents confronted the 17-year-old referee and expressed their unhappiness with his officiating. Q’s: Do we take the game too seriously? Do these parents deserve jail time?
