Guelph member Liz Sandals, appointed as the new Education Minister yesterday, has her work cut off for her, trying to mend fences with the province’s public school teachers.
She tells 570’s Gary Doyle, one priority is to bring some normalcy to extracurricular activities.
Many of those have been suspended by teachers protesting Bill 115 and the Liberal government’s imposing of a contract on them.
She says it’s important to “sit back and have some conversations and do some listening.”
Kitchener Centre MPP John Milloy, the Government House Leader and former Minister of Community and Social Services, also joined Gary.
He says he agreed with Premier Kathleen Wynne that he give up his ministerial post so he could concentrate on his other role.
He says, in a minority government, house leader is a full-time job with it being his responsibility to get the Liberal’s legislative agenda through.
He is also the main contact person in dealing with the opposition.
