Canadian Olympian speaking in Kitchener today

A Canadian Olympian is in Kitchener today.
Kayaker Mark de Jonge captured bronze in the K-1 200m race at the 2012 Olympics in London.
He will be speaking at Stantec over the noon hour. de Young is an engineer-in-training for the company in Nova Scotia.
de Jonge also talked about the Lance Armstrong story and the use of performance enhancing drugs in sport on 570’s Gary Doyle Show this morning.
“I think it’s a few bad apples that are spoiling the bunch…We have a really good testing program here (in Canada).”
de Jonge adds that things are finally getting back to normal for him following the Olympics. He trained four to six hours a day in the months leading up to the games.
He is now focusing his attention on the world championships which are set for later this summer.
