The Region of Waterloo has three choices for the public to vote on to name the new, multi-million dollar rapid transit service.
Commissioner of Transportation and Environmental Services, Thomas Schmidt, tells 570 News the names are “ion”, “trio”, and “arc”.
Schmidt says Quarry Integrated Communications narrowed a list of 300-400 names to these top three.
The firm was hired in October of 2012 to create a brand for the region’s rapid transit service.
Schmidt says rapid transit is healthy, prosperous, and smart — and the firm wanted to find names that would reflect those themes.
An online survey will be available at the Region of Waterloo’s website from January 8th – January 18th.
There will also be three public consultation sessions:
-Thursday, January 10 – UK Club, Cambridge, 4PM-8PM
-Monday, January 14 – Knox Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, 4PM-8PM
-Tuesday, January 15 – School of Pharmacy, Kitchener, 4PM-8PM
A final name will be recommended to Regional Council February 26th.
The logo and visuals will be presented to council April 9th.
