OPP RIDE numbers

Ontario Provincial Police say the number of impaired drivers rose over the holidays.

RIDE checks started at the end of November and wrapped up Wednesday.

Over the almost six week campaign, almost 700 people were charged, while 625 drivers were warned about almost driving over the legal limit.

Those numbers are up from last year. the OPP says there is no excuse for the number of drunk drivers on the road, especially with all the information and education available.
