The 3rd annual Hockey Day in Ranger Nation 2013 is taking over the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Sunday.
Fourteen Major Atom House League teams aged 9 and 10 years-old from across the region are seeing what it’s like to play as a Kitchener Ranger.
The teams get to enjoy all the perks of playing for the OHL. They are greeted with their own dressing room attendant, have their own name-plated stalls, as well, teams get to play against teams outside of their house league. The teams also get to experience pre-game introductions, have the national anthem lead the game, and have full use of the center ice video board, something the league doesn’t normally get to use.
Craig Campbell, President of the Kitchener Rangers’ Board of Directors tells 570 News the Major Atom level seems to be a good age to introduce players to what it would be like to play hockey in the OHL.
“They start to get the competitive nature of the game and what the game’s about.”
Highlights from the day will be shown on the centre ice video scoreboard during Sunday’s Kitchener Ranger game against the Owen Sound Attack.
