A repair crew from Waterloo Region is heading out this weekend to help restore power in New York City.
26 workers from Cambridge North Dumfries Hydro, Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro, and Waterloo North Hydro will assist the Long Island Power Authority.
Bucket trucks and other equipment will be dispatched over the weekend, joining a convoy that includes crews from Centre Wellington, Guelph, Halton Hills, and Orangeville.
The local workers will likely be in New York for two weeks as more than 640,000 people on Long Island remain without power since Hurricane Sandy.
