2:00pm OMNIBUS budget bill The federal Conservatives are reining in the generous pension plans for MPs, forcing politicians to contribute more to their retirement plans and delaying the age when they can collect full benefits. The changes were unveiled today as the Tories rolled out their second omnibus budget bill to implement measures outlined in the Mar. 29 budget. Speaking at an Ottawa bicycle shop, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said the changes bring MPs’ pensions in line with those in the public and private sector. 2:30pm XL Foods New Management Brooks, Alberta is losing a ¼ million a day from economy, several 100 people out of work and now a the largest animal protein processor in the world JBS (Head office is in Brazil) is taking over management of XL meats. JBS USA will says effective immediately it will become the manager of XL’s Lakeside plant in Brooks. The CEO of Xl foods says this is another positive step to re-licensing the plant and they welcome the assistance of JBS.
