Fire ban in effect for Kitchener

The City of Kitchener has been placed under a fire ban.

It’s due to the recent dry weather, warm temperatures, and a dry spell expected in the coming days.

In a news release, Fire Chief Tim Beckett says, “We are experiencing extremely dry conditions and this is being enforced for public safety reasons.”

The ban prohibits any open air burning including fire pits and chimineas. It will remain in effect until the city receives significant rainfall.
