Warmest 12 Months In History

The countdown is on to July 1st and, barring a drastic change in temperatures, the past 12-month period will go down as the warmest on record in Waterloo Region.

The University of Waterloo Weather Station says those records date back close to 100 years.

It says the old record for the July to July period was set in 1998 when the average temperature was 8.98 degrees.

As of right now, the average temperature, from July 2011 until now, is 9.3 degrees.

Much of the credit goes to a warmer than normal winter, and a record-breaking hot March.
