Shaw Media says it has cancelled its Showcase cop drama ‘King’

TORONTO – The reign is over for the Showcase cop series “King.”

The specialty channel says it has cancelled the hour-long drama.

“King” centred on a tough homicide detective who struggles to balance her job, a third marriage and attempts to start a family.

Amy Price-Francis starred as Jessica King, while Alan Van Sprang played her partner, Det. Sgt. Derek Spears.

A Shaw Media spokesperson says they are proud of the show’s first two seasons but have “decided not to pursue a third season.”

The broadcaster revealed additions to its upcoming TV schedule last week at a splashy promotional event that made no mention of “King.”
