RIM Rumours Regarding Facebook

RIMBook? FaceBerry? Could these be previews after rumours of a possible merger between Facebook and Research in Motion surfaced earlier this week on Wall Street?
The rumours continue but PC-Mag’s lead mobile analyst, Sascha Segan tells 570 News it’s just the Wall Street match-making game.
He says while Facebook has spent almost 3 years trying developing smartphone hardware, it won’t happen anytime soon, because nothing has ever materialized and it all just seems to be speculation about a device.
Segan believes that Facebook isn’t even the best fit right now for RIM, stating other companies like Microsoft, Hewlett Packard and even IBM make more sense because they could “synergize” better with the BlackBerry-maker.
Looking ahead to their Q1 results, and the talk of massive layoffs, Segan says he’s not putting too much weight in BlackBerry 10 devices being able to “save” the company because the odds are seemingly stacked against them, but he adds that it’s not impossible, and “could happen, because noone ever thought Apple’s iPhone was going to be the success it was”
Segan says another possibility to make RIM a profitable company again could be to focus on existing software and services, in the same vein as IBM, when they sold off their hardware division to Lenovo.
