Cambridge City Council has approved its 2012 budget.
The overall tax increase is just over 3.3% or roughly $37 more on the average homeowners’ property tax bill.
The increase includes a 2.55% hike in the operating budget and a shade under 1% more for infrastructure investment.
Budget Task Force Chair, Gary Price says they “tried to strike a balance between tax increases and the service needs of a growing community.”
The final budget session saw council reduce spending in some areas while improving services in others.
For example, the city has scrapped the one week shutdown imposed in 2011 for Cambridge Libraries and Galleries.
