Residents in Waterloo Region can help build a permanent memorial
to our fallen troops from the Afghanistan mission.
All proceeds from a game tonight at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex
will go to the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial Project.
The memorial will be built near the airstrip at 8 Wing CFB Trenton and will commemorate the 158 men and women who gave their lives in that country.
Hockey in Honour gets underway at 7 o’clock.
It will be an all-star team from the armed forces facing a select team of Allan Cup Hockey players.
“Hockey players aren’t heros, baseball players aren’t heros, people that are prepared to put their lives on the line like some of our military have and lost their life, those people are heros.” said Don Robertson, Chair of Allan Cup Hockey.
“We’re all looking forward to Saturday night…it’s just such a wonderful cause.” added
Robertson.
So far over $200,000 of the $1.5 million goal has been raised.
You can donate to the memorial HERE.
