There is a local connection this weekend as Toronto Archbishop Thomas Collins is elevated to the position of Cardinal.
Collins used to be a priest in Guelph at The Church of Our Lady.
570 News Director Joe Pavia will be in Rome for the ceremony reporting for Rogers radio stations across Canada. He says the assignment will present some challenges. “I have to be careful with the language,” he explains. “I was raised Catholic, I’m a practicing Catholic. It’s important though that I explain this story in layman’s terms so that everyone understands what’s happening.”
Joe will be one of about a thousand people to receive an audience with the Pope Benedict.
He says he’ll be reporting through several forms of media. “I will be reporting on radio, you’ll see my reports on the website, I’ll be filing video and I’ll be tweeting as well.”
