First witnesses heard from in Gehl trial

Day two of the trial for three men accused of murdering Kitchener’s Nadia Gehl has heard from its first witnesses.

CTV reports the woman who found Gehl’s body told the court she was out jogging when she made the grim discovery near a Kitchener bus stop.

A video was also played in court that showed an 11-year-old boy being questioned by Crown and defence lawyers.

In it, the boy describes hearing what sounded like firecrackers being set off and then saw a man in a green hat run by.

Police later released a composite sketch of a suspect based on the boy’s description.

Three men, including the 28-year-old victim’s husband, Ronald Cyr, are charged with first degree murder in the February 2009 killing.
