Gehl murder trial underway in Hamilton

The trial of three men accused of killing a Kitchener woman close to three years ago is underway in Hamilton.
It began with an opening address by the crown who alleges Nadia Gehl’s husband, Ron Cyr, had talked about having his wife killed to an undercover police officer.
This morning’s Record reports the crown told the jury he will present evidence to show Cyr was in an unhappy marriage and having an affair with a co-worker.
Two other men are also on trial for first degree murder and Crown prosecutor Fraser Kelly added that the 33-year old Cyr had “collaborated” with Zdenek Zvolensky and Nashat Qahwash in a plan to kill Gehl.
The 28-year-old woman was shot and killed while walking to a bus stop in February 2009.
The trial is expected to last up to eight weeks.
